  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger (fresh)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 tbl honey
  • 1 tbl chili garlic paste ( sriracha)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tbl sesame oil
  • 3/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup oil for frying

garlic sesame sauce

  • 1/2 cup  soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbl brown sugar
  • 1 tbl honey
  • 3 tbl rice vinegar
  • 3 tbl sesame oil
  • 1 tbl corn starch
  • pepper flakes to taste
  • 2 green onion for topping
  • sesame seeds for topping
  • 1 tsp ginger

Instructions

meatballs

  • In a big bowl combine all the ingredients (except the cooking oil)
  • Give it all a good mix, measure 1 tablespoon of the pork mixture and form into a ball.
  • Heat a cast iron skillet until its hot, pour in 1/2 cup of cooking oil then turn the heat down to a medium low. Place the meatballs into the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes o each side.
  • Once all the meatballs are sautéed, discard the oil ( not down your drain, pout it into a glass container and wait till it cools down to discard)

garlic sesame sauce

  • The secret to making a delicious and flavorful Asian sauce isn’t that hard.  I usually start my sauce with a combination of soy sauce and honey.  From there, I like to add ginger and sesame oil. To give it a little kick, I add rice vinegar and or red pepper flakes, if you like it spicy.
  • To the same pan add the sauce, heat it up for a few minutes then add the meatballs into the sauce. Turn the heat off.
  • To bring this dish together, I always add a generous amount of sesame seeds and green onions.  Asian dishes are just not the same without fresh green onions.
  • Serve with white rice or over Asian noodles. Or my favorite side salad kimchi salad

Notes

TIPS:

Ground Pork: I used plain ground pork for my meatballs. If you really want them to be spicy you can use a spicy ground pork instead. I do not recommend using Italian sausage, or country sausage for these meatballs.
