  • 2 pounds ground pork
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger (fresh)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 tbl honey
  • 1 tbl chili garlic paste ( sriracha)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tbl sesame oil
  • 3/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup oil for frying
garlic sesame sauce
  • 1/2 cup  soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbl brown sugar
  • 1 tbl honey
  • 3 tbl rice vinegar
  • 3 tbl sesame oil
  • 1 tbl corn starch
  • pepper flakes to taste
  • 2 green onion for topping
  • sesame seeds for topping
  • 1 tsp ginger

Method

meatballs
  1. In a big bowl combine all the ingredients (except the cooking oil)
  2. Give it all a good mix, measure 1 tablespoon of the pork mixture and form into a ball.
  3. Heat a cast iron skillet until its hot, pour in 1/2 cup of cooking oil then turn the heat down to a medium low. Place the meatballs into the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes o each side.
  4. Once all the meatballs are sautéed, discard the oil ( not down your drain, pout it into a glass container and wait till it cools down to discard)
garlic sesame sauce
  1. The secret to making a delicious and flavorful Asian sauce isn’t that hard.  I usually start my sauce with a combination of soy sauce and honey.  From there, I like to add ginger and sesame oil. To give it a little kick, I add rice vinegar and or red pepper flakes, if you like it spicy.
  2. To the same pan add the sauce, heat it up for a few minutes then add the meatballs into the sauce. Turn the heat off.
  3. To bring this dish together, I always add a generous amount of sesame seeds and green onions.  Asian dishes are just not the same without fresh green onions.
  4. Serve with white rice or over Asian noodles. Or my favorite side salad kimchi salad

Notes

TIPS:

Ground Pork: I used plain ground pork for my meatballs. If you really want them to be spicy you can use a spicy ground pork instead. I do not recommend using Italian sausage, or country sausage for these meatballs.
