Fall/winter is among us, which means game days and the holiday season is here. Time to break out all the yummy appetizer recipes! This Asian Meatballs recipe is simple to make, ready in less than 30 minutes and features a sticky sauce.
This Asian meatball recipe is great for holiday gatherings, game days that can be kept warm in a slow cooker for hours. These pork meatballs work great for a quick family dinner paired with white rice, also they can be frozen to use for busy weekdays.
Tips:
Ground Pork: I used plain ground pork for my meatballs. If you really want them to be spicy you can use a spicy ground pork instead. I do not recommend using Italian sausage, or country sausage for these meatballs.

How to make Asian meatballs
In a big bowl combine all the ingredients (except the cooking oil)
Give it all a good mix, measure 1 tablespoon of the pork mixture and shape it into a meatball.
Heat a cast iron skillet until its hot, pour in 1/2 cup of cooking oil then turn the heat down to a medium low. Place the meatballs into the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side.
Once all the meatballs are sautéed, discard the oil ( not down your drain, pout it into a glass container and wait till it cools down to discard)
Garlic sesame sauce
The secret to making a delicious and flavorful Asian sauce isn’t hard. I usually start my sauce with a combination of soy sauce and honey. From there, I like to add ginger and sesame oil. To give it a little kick, I add rice vinegar and or red pepper flakes, if you like it spicy.
To the same pan add the sauce, heat it up for a few minutes then add the meatballs into the sauce. Turn the heat off.
To bring this dish together, I always add a generous amount of sesame seeds and green onions. Asian dishes are just not the same without fresh green onions.
Serve with white rice, over Asian noodles, or my favorite side salad kimchi salad
