Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups good-quality bone broth- pasture-raised bone broth. Free-range chicken bones are my absolute fave (you can add it to basically anything without it affecting the taste)
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk- You can use a milk of your choice, such as organic coconut milk, oat milk, unsweetened almond milk, or soy milk.
  • 1/2 cup  heavy cream- French hot cocoa uses a little heavy cream to add some creaminess to each cup, which is delightful!
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate– Dark chocolate is rich in disease-fighting antioxidants. Studies show it can help reduce blood pressure and lower the risk of heart disease.
  • 2 tbl organic cacao powder – raw cocoa powder provides a rich chocolate flavor
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar – or maple syrup
  • 1 tbl Organic vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon is my secret ingredient to add so much flavor to the hot chocolate; it helps mask the bone broth.

Equipment

  • small pot
  • whisk
  • mug
  • measurig spoons and cups

Method

  1. Add all ingredients in a small saucepan, then place it on medium heat while whisking to incorporate them. Heat the bone broth hot chocolate until the chocolate is melted and the cocoa powder has incorporated into the liquids. Do not boil the cocoa; you want to heat it till it’s hot without boiling. Add a finishing touch with a pinch of sea salt or Celtic salt or a pinch of cayenne pepper for an extra kick!
  2. Pour yourself an amazing cup of hot chocolate and enjoy the delicious flavors and benefits without a sugar rush to follow! Add yuir favorite topping such as marhsmellows , crushed candy cane, or an extra dusting of cocoa powder!
