Here is my 3 year old mixing the dry ingredients

Add the 1 1/4 cup of flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tbl white sugar, 1 tbl brown sugar, and 2 1/2 tsp baking powder, to a bowl and whisk to incorporate everything.

In a small bowl whisk 1 egg with a fork until its beaten. This will make it easier to blend into the batter.

Make a well in the flour mixture, then add 1 1/4 cup of milk, 1 beaten egg, 1 tsp pure vanilla extract, and 4 tbl melted butter to the bowl.

With a wooden spoon gently fold in all the ingredients together. Do not over mix the batter. The more you mix it- the tougher the dough will become. There will be a few pockets of dry flour, that’s perfectly fine!

Lets get cooking!

Let the mixture sit for a 5 minutes to let the wet ingredients fully absorb the dry ingredients.

While the mixture is resting, place a pan on a medium low heat.

To get the golden crispy fried edges, add 1tbl of butter to the hot pan.

When the butter has melted add 1/2 cup of batter into the pan.

Once the pancake has formed little bubbles in the batter, that’s when you know its ready to be flipped. Flip the pancake and cook for an additional 3 minutes or until its cooked through

Repeat the process until there is no batter left.

Can you store pancake batter in the fridge?

yes you can! If you need to prepare this recipe ahead of time, mix everything as listed above. Except do not add the baking soda. Add the baking soda right before you are ready to cook your brown sugar pancakes.

Can you Freeze brown sugar pancakes?

To freeze the pancakes, lay the cooked cakes in one layer on a cookie sheet. Then place them in the freezer for 2 hours till they harden. This will prevent the pancakes from sticking together. Once they are frozen, stack them into a Ziploc bag and place them in the freezer for a rainy day!

They can be in the freezer for a few months, if they will last that long!

Reheat them in the oven, toaster, or on a pan with some butter.

Thank you for stopping by my Farmhouse! I hope you will enjoy these brown sugar pancakes as much as we have! Have a beautiful day!
