Jalapeno popper pinwheels

Jump to Recipe

Jalapeno popper pinwheels are the perfect bite-size appetizer to feed a hungry crowd! These are even better baked in the oven, trust me! you can serve them cold or warm, both are irresistible.

When looking for an appetizer to feed a crowd, one of the main demands is that it is easy to assemble and that it can be prepared ahead of time. No one wants to be stuck in the kitchen while everyone is hanging out in the living room. Right?

My mother-in-law asked me to make an appetizer for a family gathering, and when I was brainstorming what to make, I remembered the jalapeno poppers I made for our last potluck and how much everyone loved them. At first, that is what I wanted to make, but then I opened my fridge and only found only 1 jalapeno. I thought why not roll it up into amazingly tasty tortilla roll-ups? So I did! and it was delicious! Everyone at our family event loved them.

Perfect appetizer for hosting

Are you going to a football game or a potluck? Will you be hosting a game day party?! I for one, love the party-hosting part even more than the football part lol. Although, I must admit I love gathering friends and family together and rooting for their favorite football team.

Jalapeno popper pinwheels are the perfect appetizer to feed hungry mouths! This appetizer has bacon, cream cheese, ranch, cheese, garlic, cilantro, and fresh jalapenos for a little kick! What a fantastic combination of my favorite flavors!

Broil them!

The day after a family event we had a few left over, they were a little soggy. So I thought I would put it on a skillet with some cooking spray. And let me tell you! it was so good! the cheese melted and the tortilla has gotten perfectly crispy. It was a perfect snack!

Ingredients

  • 8 oz room temperature cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 large fresh jalapeno or 2 small jalapenos ( you can adjust this to your spice level)
  • 5 oz canned chunk white chicken (or shredded rotisserie chicken)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3-4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 8 strips of fried bacon

How to make Jalapeno popper pinwheels

First start with frying 8 strips of bacon in a pan on medium-high heat, until it gets a beautiful golden color. Once the bacon finishes cooking, take it out onto a paper towel to soak up the grease. Let the bacon cool down.

After the bacon has cooled down, chop it into small pieces.

In a large mixing bowl 8oz of room temperature cream cheese with 1/4 cup ranch and mix with a fork until it’s smooth.

To the mixing bowl add the chopped bacon.

Next, wash and dry 1-2 jalapenos (depending on the size of the jalapeno, and the spice level you’d like) Cut it in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. Chop the jalapeno into small pieces as well. Add it to the mixing bowl.

Then, peel 2 garlic cloves and put them through a garlic press to mince them. Add to the bowl as well.

Lay a tortilla out on a plate and spread an even layer of the bacon and cream cheese mixture all the way to the edges (about 2 to 3 tbsp).

Roll up the tortilla into a log, cut off the ends of the tortilla roll then cut it into 1-inch slices.

Broil the jalapeno popper pinwheels

To warm them place the jalapeno popper pinwheels on a baking sheet pan with parchment paper. spray the parchment paper with a little bit of cooking spray. Place the pinwheels facing up on the baking sheet. Turn the oven to a broil and place the jalapeno popper pinwheels inside the oven.

Broil them for 4 minutes. Watch them very closely, as the broiler is very strong and the pinwheels can burn easily.

Pin it for later!
